When you turn 25 you go to Nashville: Cheers to 25 Years

June was CRAZY busy! I can’t believe it has taken me this long to tell you guys about my trip to Nashville.

To tell you how the trip went I have to tell you how it started of course. It was the Thursday before my birthday and I got home for a long day at work and my kickboxing class totally exhausted. Right when I walked in the door Chad said he wanted to give me my birthday present early. I’m like, “are you sure? I would rather get it on my birthday”. He refused anything different and handed me a birthday card with a message reading “show them how its done on your birthday in Nashville with a lady on a bucking horse. My husband is the best lol. He even got my coworker to get the time off for me! I mean..really..?! How did I get so lucky! #proudwifestatus

Because it was a total surprise, I had only that night to pack and prepare! This is basically worst case scenario for me. I am a planner, people! I didn’t get to shop or make lists or plan for activities. With a glass of red wine in hand I got to packing and your girl got it done!

Getting the list

This was the first time we have been to the “City of Music”, either of us! Once we got in Nashville we cleaned up and found somewhere close to the hotel to grab some grub. Whenever we are traveling we always use Yelp to find the hidden gem local restraints with real great reviews.

We found a great place close by called the Flying Saucers Taproom which was a short walk from our hotel. What a great gem we found. What swayed us to go there? Its a taproom of course lol. They have around 75 taps! What made this place even better was the awesome wood fire pizzas, great atmosphere and a great bartender. Bartenders are a vat of knowledge my friends. Ask them where to go to drink, eat and experience the city! When we walked out of the restaurant we were fed, buzzed and had a list of the “it” places to go on the back of our receipt.

Exploring the Gulch

The next morning we decided to hit the streets and explore. My favorite thing! what was great about our hotel is the location it was in. The Westin is nestled in between two neighborhoods that make walking to each a breeze. The Westin Nashville took such good care of us and made me feel special for my birthday weekend with a great room and special guest perks! I would recommend this hotel to everyone who visits! The first neighborhood we explored that morning is The Gulch. What a great piece of Nashville. We tried to get in line for Biscuit Love for brunch the next day but be prepared to stay in line. The wait was 2 hours at 10am! We were starving and craving a drink so we went to Pub Nashville and got some great Bloody Mary’s and brunch.

What’s also great about this neighborhood is the shopping! Be sure to check out Blush Boutique while in the Gulch. Great finds at great prices. And, since I didn’t get to shop before the trip I had to find a couple pieces while I was in town! Check out Killebrew Coffee for a pick me up while exploring for great coffee and a fun retro vibe.

Musical Row Happy Hour

If you have Sirius XM in your car and a country fan you know what this is! Every Friday, Buzz Brainard does a live broadcast from Margaritaville on Broadway. From what we researched you have to get there for the 4pm broadcast early. Like 11am early to get into the happy hour and to get a table. We got there around 2 and we got a table. Its a chance you take! We made some friends in line so just have a good time.

We even got to meet and take a selfie with Buzz! It was a good time but be prepared to spend the afternoon waiting and spending time in Margaritaville.

Night out on Broadway

Friday night was our night out on Broadway! We started the evening out on the rooftop at our hotel which is a pool during the day and a bar at night. It had amazing cocktails and a beautiful sunset for us.

We went to Merchants for dinner which was a recommendation from our bartender guide at the beginning of our trip! Super yummy food and right on Broadway.

After dinner we went bar to bar wherever looked good, whatever live music sounded right. What I love about broadway is the live music. It changes so much from bar to bar! Also, no cover charge! Why isn’t this a thing everywhere?

Birthday Dinner

The last night in town we did my birthday dinner! But, before we could go to dinner we had to stop at a few breweries. Where else would be go? lol. We gave Yazoo & Jackalope Brewing.

Again, from our trusted list we got at the beginning of the trip from our bartender, we had a couple of great restaurants to choose from.

We decided on Adele’s. A farm to table restaurant that has romantic cafe lights and a flavorful menu.  We even tried fried pig ears. They. Were. Delicious. Always try something new!

Thanks for the good time Nashville!
