This past Saturday I got to throw my sister a baby shower! I am beyond excited to see her as a Mom and my brother-in-law as a Dad. I was so honored to plan this amazing day for her.
Since the parents-to-be decided to not find out the gender of the baby (yay!), I went neutral and sophisticated while planning the party. I decided on an “Oh Baby!” theme for the shower invites to keep it neutral.
If you are planning a baby shower, I would urge you to consider the “books for the baby” card insert I put into the invites. The wording turned out really cute! I saw this idea at another shower and had to use it for my sister.
Decor + Floral
I used lots of fresh floral to bring in bright colors to compliment and reflect the invites.
To help with seating/tables I moved our dining room table out and put in four 30 inch diameter cocktail tables. They worked perfectly in my space and everyone was able to set their plates and drinks down.
One of my favorite things I did for the decor was the custom punny onesie’s. With a last name Moore, there are endless possibilities.
Replacing the word “more” with “Moore” was basically the best idea ever! haha
Games
Ask anyone, I am not a shower game person lol. But, my sister loves games. So, I try to choose games that are easy and easy to participate in.
I chose the belly size string guessing game where you use twine to guess how big the moms belly is. Whoever gets closest to her belly diameter wins a prize!
The other game I chose to do was an ability/personality guessing game of who the mom-to-be wants her baby to be like. It’s a cute game that allows the mom to show who she wants the baby to be like and the guests guess who she will choose – Mom or Dad?
Below are the printables for the shower games that are free for you to use. I have updated them to be generic so anyone can use them! Simply click on the image to get the PDF.
Dine + Drink
I tried to keep the food menu simple, light and easy. My spread included ham & turkey sub sandwiches with condiment options, BBQ meatballs, pasta salad, fruit salad, chips and popcorn. What you see below was for about 25 people.
I tried to keep drinks simple as well with lemon water, iced tea, lemonade & mimosas. Don’t have a drink dispenser stand? I used planting pots from my front porch that I used last year for flowers! They worked like a charm lol. Be sure to also put out some sharpies so people can write their names on their cups.
My sisters best friend from college helped with the planning of this shower and I was so happy that she volunteered to take care of the desserts. I’m not really a sweets person and trying to decide on that part of parties is always my least favorite task.
These small treats were perfect! Everyone was able to try a couple of different flavors without feeling too guilty. We had everything from raspberry & lemon cupcakes to cheesecake and carrot cake.
