1 year of marriage in the books friends!
It has came and gone so quickly. Thats a good sign..right?
When I was thinking of what to get my husband for our one year anniversary I wanted to keep it traditional with the type of gift I was going to give him. Did you know each year of your marriage has a theme? It does! Curious? Here is a link to a site breaking them all down for you.
Marriage Anniversary Gifts by Year
They also have a traditional gift ideas and a modern gift ideas. Didn’t know it was so confusing? haha. What is the first anniversary gift? Paper! Yeah, it sounded pretty boring to me too.
I wanted to take the traditional idea of paper and get creative with it.
One of my favorite things about our wedding was our vows to each other. We wrote them ourselves and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house, including mine. I was especially pleasantly and happily surprised how wonderful my husbands vows were. They were heartfelt and so beautiful. Making me tear up now thinking about them!
And there is where my idea formed; to get our vows hand written out by calligrapher (on paper of course lol). Where else do you find a calligrapher? on Etsy of course!
I have been following AP Letters for awhile and loved the work she does. If you aren’t following her on Instagram please do! — @apletters . I also saw awhile back that she had an Etsy listing similar to what I wanted to do. If you aren’t familiar with the site you can reach out to the shop owner and request a custom order if you don’t see what you want. So, I reached out to hear and explained what I wanted. Ashlyn was more than willing to make the vows totally custom! After several emails back and forth and sketches of the piece I was beyond happy.
If you follow me on Instagram then you may remember the tease I did a few months back on this….
Here is the note without the black outs! haha. The note was so sweet!
The next step to these was to get these beauties framed! But, I didn’t want to spend and arm or leg to get it done professionally. And then, when you try to do it by yourself you get drowned by the numbers of the matte size, art size and then to use that info to buy the right frame size..math. ew.
Compromise and that brings you to Framed and Matted. This site is awesome. I used this site to frame large wedding prints up along my staircase and it was beyond easy. All you do on the site is choose your frame, enter your art size and choose the matte width. In a few weeks they are at your door with free shipping. Here is how easy it is to assemble:
It comes well packaged and everything that you need is right in the box with the directions.
You take out all of the pieces and start to put the pieces in order to put into the frame.
Instructions are very strait forward and easy to do!
And there you go! Fully assembled. I loved the all white so that they lettering stood out as the star of the picture.
If you are looking for a reasonable option for framing that looks professional I would highly recommend Framed & Matted.
