This better be a rhetorical question – Who doesn’t love Brunch?
Wherever we visit on vacation or if we have a free weekend at home one of our top priorities is to find the best brunch spots in town.
I’m not sure why I don’t have one of those shirts that reads “you can’t brunch with us” or “but first brunch” or lastly, “brunch so hard” (present idea hint for my husband or if you want to be my friend) because I am mildly obsessed with the time between breakfast and lunch. I mean, when else is it socially acceptable to eat breakfast food and not be judged by your second mimosa or Bloody Mary? Brunch life foreva.
If you don’t already know, my husband and I live in the quaint town of Rockford Michigan. One of the things that drew us to this town, about 15 minutes north of downtown Grand Rapids, is its little downtown area. Downtown Rockford is filled with little shops and boutiques, family owned business, the picturesque Rockford dam holding back the Rouge River and some great eats.
There are multiple dinner spots a couple lunch spots and even less breakfast places to choose from. But, after moving from downtown Grand Rapids to this quaint town it was a hard pill to swallow of not having a great breakfast and brunch place to go to. Until now! – queue the dramatic music.
Last weekend, March 17th, Ramonas Table launched their brunch and breakfast menu and they were so gracious enough to have me in to taste all of the goodness!
Drinks
Let’s be honest, this is probably the most important part of brunch. It’s ok, you can judge me. If you aren’t judging we should be friends and lets meet up sometime. My favorite drink is their pineapple mimosa. It was so fresh and the perfect proportion of champagne to juice. Chad’s favorite was the Bloody Mary. One of the shining accolades of Ramona’s Table is their drink mixology. They use the best and most fresh ingredients and with that comes with a rotating seasonal drink menu.
They recently had a mixology class but sadly wasn’t able to make. No worries though, more mixology classes coming soon! Not only are the drinks they teach you delicious but they are made with less sugar and less calories. Win-win if you ask me.
Savory
I am more of a eggs and sausage kind of gal when it comes to breakfast. So, when I saw the savory options at Ramonas I was beyond excited. One of my favorite breakfast foods of all time is Eggs Benedict and man oh man did their Eggs Benedict (aka Benny & the Jets) impress me. I’ve never tried to make this dish myself because it intimidates me so I’ll leave that to the professionals.
Along with the Eggs Benedict they have Black Bean Huevos Rancheros, Davey Gravy (biscuits and gravy), two eggs any style breakfast, a skillet dish and a breakfast sandwich.
One also highlight is that they make all of the sausage in house. YUM. They also make a triplet potato hash with three types – including sweet potatoes – of potatoes and red onion.
Sweet
If you are a sweets person for breakfast, more like my husband, you won’t be disappointed with the options. The head chef really took his time to make these menu options full of flavor as possible.
Our favorite were the pancakes. They were fluffy, full of flavor and had just enough crunch- you know what I’m talking about where they use butter to get a crust on the pancake. What made it even better? The syrup is sourced from a local Michigan farm. Its always served with fresh berries and homemade whipped cream as well. See ya ordering these as a side plate every time we go for brunch.
Also, just for your info, they don’t judge you if you also have a piece of their AMAZING secret recipe carrot cake for breakfast. Just sayin. These are my people.
History, Amenities, Catering & Events
Not only does this place push out fantastic food and drinks but it also is in a colorful and historical building. It was a handful of different business before it finally found its home with Ramona’s Table. They brought that history into the design of the building and art all the way down to what plates they serve you on.
One of my favorite things about the Ramonas is its location. It sits right along the White Pine Trail and the Rouge River and has the best outdoor patio in Rockford.
The events that they put together are so much fun! They have recently been partnering with a local boutique, Haven Creek, to have DIY classes. The second floor is also it a great event space for showers, parties and rehearsal dinners. If you are interested in hosting a part here or their amazing catering options you can find all of that information on their website! The second floor can seats around 50 people and can hold ups o 75 if its more of a cocktail/appetizer event.
One last shoutout to the owners of Ramona’s Table, Charlie and Jackie. They are the sweetest, down to earth and most giving people. They do so much for Rockford as a community and for the whole Grand Rapids area including several donations to the Kid’s Food Basket. You can usually see them roaming around the restaurant cracking jokes, asking how your meal was and getting to know their patrons. Thank you for having me in and letting me get to share this exciting new venture that you are bringing to Rockford!
Go give Romona’s Table a follow on their instagram and their facebook page to stay up to date on when their patio will be open and all of the exciting events that will be happening!
