Sunshine
*Family*
Warmth
Great Eats
and even better Drinks.
This is basically our only criteria when we choose where we are going to go for our annual “Sunshine Trip” as we like to call it, well.. really just me. We have done Scottsdale Arizona, Cruise in the Bahamas and this year we decided southern California! For this location we basically made our trip around it. And, well, beer made it back to the top of our list again.
I wanted to give you guys the best info of all of the awesome places we went I am going to split it up by each location and by category for easy reference. You can find my Laguna Beach day details here and our Temecula day here. Our next day on the trip I will be giving you details about is…
Carlsbad
This city is home to one of my favorite people, my Aunt Val. Because she lives out in California I don’t get to see her very often. So, going out to sunny California was pretty much so I could see her and hang out with her.
Where to stay
Sometimes you need to base your hotel decisions around one thing. The main reason why Chad chose this hotel was because its not only right in front of the ocean but there is a running trail that also runs right along the ocean.
Rooms were clean, staff was nice but man did the views from the pool were amazing. The weather was still on its way of warming up but we thankfully had a sunny day to soak up the sun and read a book.
The beach right across from the hotel was so awesome too. It was my type of beach…no sand…lol. If you know me at all I despise sand. The beach was all rocks.
The sea mist in the morning was so nice and calming and the run on the running trail was beautiful. Love being able to share these experiences and see these beautiful places with my husband.
Where to Eat & Drink
We were able to drive around a bit when we were looking for our hotel and we had time to spare before our dinner with my aunt but couldn’t not go to California and not hit up an In-n-Out Burger. This was my first time going to one and man did it not disappoint.
This will always be my priority from now one when I go out to California hahaha.
Since its their home turf we let my Aunt Val and Uncle Joe decide where to take us to dinner. They decided on Casa de Bandini and they did not disappoint with their choice. We were so into the conversation and meal that I neglected to take pictures lol. The Palomas were great and the food was actually really authentic. Would highly recommend making this a stop on your trip.
What to Do
We really wanted to just make this a chill day so we got up a little later and took our time getting from Temecula to Carlsbad, hung out by the pool and we decided to hit up a few breweries in the Carlsbad area before getting dinner with my Aunt and Uncle.
There are so many breweries in the Calabasas area and we wished we had more time to explore them. I encourage as much exploring but we were impressed with Rouleur Brewing Company and Burgeon Beer Company.
Both places are totally worth checking out. Chad and I actually had a great chat with the head brewer at Rouleur. He was super chill, gave us a tour of the brewing facility and talked all things beer with us.
Feeling like a broken record I wish we could have stayed longer to see more of this town. We were so happy we got to see my Aunt and Uncle. I miss them so much since I don’t get to see them often. Having at least dinner and drinks with them for a night was worth the entire trip.
Happy and safe travels!
